Life of Service in the Army of the Lord
Have you ever wondered what it means to serve in the Army of the Lord? It goes beyond armed forces or earthly battles. It is a calling that requires dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering faith. In this article, we will explore the life of service in the Army of the Lord and how it impacts the lives of those who have chosen this path.
The Call to Service
When individuals decide to serve in the Army of the Lord, they respond to a higher calling. It is a call to put their faith into action, to fight the spiritual battles that surround them, and to bring light into the darkness. It requires a complete surrender of oneself to the will of God and a commitment to walking in His ways.
The Training and Preparation
Just like any army, the Army of the Lord provides training and preparation for its soldiers. This training involves spiritual disciplines such as prayer, worship, studying the Word of God, and fellowship with other believers. Through these practices, soldiers learn to rely on God's strength and guidance, equipping themselves with the armor necessary to withstand the challenges they may face.

The Battlefront
As soldiers in the Army of the Lord, the battlefront is not a physical location, but rather a spiritual one. It is a battle against the forces of evil, darkness, and sin. Soldiers are called to stand firm in their faith, to be a light in a world filled with chaos and despair. Their weapons are not physical, but spiritual – prayer, love, compassion, and the truth of God's Word.
The Rewards of Service
While the life of service in the Army of the Lord may be challenging, it is also incredibly rewarding. Soldiers experience the life-transforming power of God's love, witnessing miracles, and seeing lives transformed. They become agents of positive change, impacting their communities and bringing hope to those who need it the most. Their service is not in vain, for they are building God's kingdom on Earth.
Serving in the Army of the Lord is not an easy task, but it is a calling that brings immense joy and fulfillment. It requires dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering faith in God. Through training, preparation, and engagement in spiritual warfare, soldiers stand firm in their belief, spreading love, truth, and hope wherever they go. Their service is a testament to the power of God's grace and a reminder of the transformative impact of a life surrendered to Him.

Born in October 1920 in pre-independent India, armyman SM Devadason fought in the World War II with the allied troops in Burma and returned to India in early January1948.
This is a brief story of his life, from his humble roots to the tree that stood tall in Delhi and provided shelter to his family, his Church, his neighbours and friends. And also bore many fruits and seeds that have now sprouted trees that are grounded strongly in the Lord and are in turn bearing more fruits.
After losing his mother when he was 3 years and then being ill-treated by his stepmother, he found comfort and love in the family members of his mother who raised him and his elder sister. After he started working and married his first cousin Hepzibah in May 1948, he worked hard to settle her siblings in good families and was the strict yet soft-hearted family patriarch.
He was one of the early members of the Tamil congregation of the Cathedral Church of the Redemption and worked hard to get more Tamil-speaking people to join the fellowship, even if he and his friends had to cycle all over the city looking for people who looked like they spoke Tamil. They initiated a lot of activities in the Church which still continue to this day and are also fondly remembered.
He was a good friend and helped those in need. Despite doing night duties, he was always available during the day to take care of his four kids while his teacher wife worked and help out others in need. He lived a fruitful life and sowed the seeds of a good Christian life that are being carried forward by his children, grandchildren and others who came under his care.
The story of his life is told in the first section in the voice of his granddaughter, Rebecca and the second section is on treasured memories and tributes received from various members of his family, friends and Church members.
We specially remember his life, witness and contribution to the Lord's Kingdom and we commemorate thatha’s (grandfather in Tamil) 100th birth anniversary on 15 October 2020 with this book.
