The Preparation

Months of meticulous planning, physical training, and mental fortitude led me to this exact moment. As I tightened the laces of my boots, I couldn't contain my excitement for the days that lay ahead.

The Starting Point

We began our journey at the magnificent Fish River Canyon, one of Africa's most impressive natural wonders. Standing at the edge, gazing into the vastness of the canyon, I couldn't help but feel a mix of awe and anticipation. This was just the beginning of an extraordinary month-long walk.

Into the Wilderness

With every step, I delved deeper into the heart of Namibia's wilderness. The scorching sun beat down on us as we trekked across the barren yet breathtaking landscapes. The ethereal beauty of the Namib Desert, with its towering dunes in shades of red and orange, left me in awe. It felt as though I had stepped into another world.

As we continued our journey, diverse wildlife greeted us along the way. Giraffes gracefully sauntered in the distance, while herds of zebras grazed peacefully under the African sky. The distinctive sounds of roaring lions and trumpeting elephants reverberated through the wilderness, reminding us of the untamed magnificence that surrounded us.

The People and Culture

While Namibia's natural wonders stole the show, the encounters with its people and their vibrant culture added an extra layer of richness to my journey. From the Ovambo people in the north to the Himba tribe in the remote regions, each interaction was a glimpse into the country's diverse heritage.

The locals welcomed us with open arms, sharing their stories and traditions. And as we rested in rural villages along the way, we exchanged laughter and embraced the warmth of their hospitality. It was in these moments that I truly felt the essence of Namibia and understood the unity that connects humanity.

Facing Challenges

Walking for an entire month in demanding conditions was not without its challenges. The scorching sun, relentless heat, and physically demanding terrain tested our endurance. But it was through these challenges that we discovered our inner strength, pushing our limits and realizing that we were capable of much more than we had ever imagined.

There were moments when exhaustion threatened to consume us, but the magnificent sights and resilient spirit of Namibia kept us going. With each passing day, as we conquered the seemingly insurmountable, a sense of accomplishment washed over us.

A Life-Changing Journey

As the month came to an end, I couldn't help but reflect on the life-changing experience I had just undergone. The walk in Namibia had not only tested me physically and mentally but had also allowed me to reconnect with nature in its purest form. It reminded me of our responsibility to protect our planet and its unique treasures.

This extraordinary adventure through Namibia was an awakening of the senses – a breathtaking amalgamation of landscapes, wildlife, people, and personal growth. It changed my outlook on life and made me appreciate the beauty that lies beyond our comfort zones.

The Journey Continues

My walk for a month in Namibia may have concluded, but the memories and lessons learned endure. This remarkable expedition has ignited a burning desire within me to explore more of our incredible world.

So, if you're seeking an adventure of a lifetime, I urge you to consider Namibia as your next destination. Lace up your boots, embrace the unknown, and let the wonders of this captivating land leave an indelible mark on your soul.

But remember, it all starts with one step.

This book chronicles my 2011 plains game safari to the edge of Bushman Land in Northeastern Namibia. The prime incentive for booking this safari in this area was Edloret’s use of Bushman trackers for the largest plains game, which is very rare these days. The story details the many wonderful differences peoples of the same species have. Life is about celebrating differences in humanity otherwise our existence on earth would be a very monotonous and boring existence. So I paid the money and stepped back into a time when “we” were much closer to Mother Earth than as a westerner we are today.
