One of the highlights of Alaska is its glaciers. As we explore the stunning Glacier Bay National Park, we'll witness massive ice formations as they calve into the sea, creating a spectacle of nature's raw power. From the awe-inspiring Hubbard Glacier to the majestic Mendenhall Glacier, prepare to be left in awe by these frozen wonders.

Besides glaciers, Alaska is home to an incredible array of wildlife. Keep an eye out for grizzly bears, bald eagles, humpback whales, and playful sea otters as we journey through the untamed landscape.

And let's not forget about Denali National Park, home to the tallest peak in North America, Mount Denali. Standing at a staggering 20,310 feet, this majestic mountain is a sight to behold, offering breathtaking views and captivating hiking trails for those seeking adventure.

Zambia: The Heart of African Safari

Leaving the icy landscapes of Alaska behind, we now head to Zambia, a country known as the heart of African safari. Get ready to encounter the incredible wildlife that roams freely in Zambia's pristine national parks.

One of the highlights of our visit to Zambia is a trip to South Luangwa National Park, a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. Brace yourself for thrilling encounters with elephants, lions, leopards, and even the rare African wild dogs. Take a safari drive through the park, or for an adrenaline rush, opt for a walking safari and immerse yourself in the untamed beauty of the African Bush.

No trip to Zambia would be complete without a visit to Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Feel the mist on your face as you stand in awe of the sheer power and beauty of this majestic waterfall. Take a boat cruise along the Zambezi River for a different perspective and witness incredible sunsets over the African horizon.

Ushuaia: The Gateway to Antarctica

Our adventure now takes us to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world and the gateway to Antarctica. Nestled amidst the snow-capped Andes Mountains and the Beagle Channel, Ushuaia offers breathtaking natural beauty that will leave you speechless.

Embark on a cruise from Ushuaia and set sail across the notorious Drake Passage, braving the stormy Antarctic waters. Witness vast colonies of penguins, majestic whales, and seals in their natural habitat as you explore the untouched landscapes of the White Continent. Experience the surreal beauty of icebergs and gaze at the midnight sun, a truly extraordinary phenomenon.

Uluru: The Red Centre of Australia

Our final stop takes us to Uluru, the stunning sandstone monolith located in the heart of Australia. This sacred site holds great cultural significance to the Indigenous people of the region and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

As we approach Uluru, prepare to be captivated by its ever-changing colors. Witness a mesmerizing sunrise or sunset, as the rock formations seemingly change from red to orange to gold. Take a guided walk around the base of Uluru and learn about the ancient Aboriginal traditions and stories associated with this sacred landmark.

For a unique perspective, embark on a helicopter ride over Uluru and Kata Tjuta (also known as the Olgas),the mysterious rock domes located nearby. Marvel at the vastness of the Australian Outback and the sheer beauty of this ancient land.

The Journey of a Lifetime

From witnessing glaciers and wildlife in Alaska, to encountering the untamed beauty of Africa in Zambia, and exploring Antarctica's unspoiled landscapes from Ushuaia, before finishing with the captivating marvels of Uluru, this journey is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

So, whether you've always dreamt of embarking on an adventure or you're simply looking for inspiration for your next travel destination, join us on this extraordinary journey from Alaska to Zambia, Ushuaia to Uluru. Discover the wonders of the world and create memories that will last a lifetime.

I had polio when I was twelve weeks old and moved to a wheelchair full time when I moved out on my own. Far from being confining, the blue chair has allowed me the freedom to do whatever I want to and when, including backpacking the world alone when time and finances allow.

Whether it is falling out of my blue chair and breaking a leg in Zambia or being stranded in the dark on a small boat in the Java Sea off Indonesia, there is always a funny story to be told.

For me Travels in a Blue Chair isn't about the chair. The chair is in many ways just a means to get me from point A to point B, exactly like shoes. The real story is about the many smiling people I've met all over the world who trip over themselves to help me out when I need it and then remain in contact with me to become life-long friends.
