Have you ever wondered what would happen if you decided to play a harmless prank on your best friend, only for it to quickly spiral out of control and become a legendary tale that you reminisce about for years to come? Well, that's exactly what happened to me when I decided to glue my friends to chairs during our annual camping trip.

Picture this: a warm summer evening, a crackling campfire, and a group of friends sharing laughter and stories. It was the perfect opportunity for some light-hearted mischief. Little did I know, this innocent prank would turn into one of the most memorable moments of our friendship.

The stage was set, and the perfect victim was chosen - my friend, Alex. Alex was notorious for being a good sport and having a great sense of humor, so I knew he would take the prank in stride. Armed with some strong glue and an evil grin, I waited for the perfect moment.

As soon as Alex got up to grab another pack of marshmallows, I swiftly applied the glue to the chair where he was sitting. Adrenaline rushed through my veins as I tried to contain my laughter, eagerly anticipating his return.

Within moments, Alex returned, blissfully unaware of the trap I had set. He unsuspectingly sat down on the glued chair, and that's when the chaos began. As he tried to stand up, he quickly realized that he was stuck - glued to the chair like an inseparable duo.

The initial shock on Alex's face was priceless. The rest of us burst into uncontrollable laughter, unable to believe what we had just witnessed. It was like something out of a slapstick comedy movie.

We tried everything to free Alex from his sticky predicament - pulling, pushing, even attempting to use some cooking oil we found in the camping supplies. But nothing seemed to work. The glue held strong, and poor Alex remained glued to the chair, with no end to our amusement in sight.

As the night went on, word spread throughout the campsite about the "guy glued to a chair" incident. Soon, curious campers started gathering around our campfire to witness the spectacle for themselves. Our camping trip turned into a full-fledged comedy show, with Alex as the unintentional star.

The night was filled with endless laughter, as friends and strangers alike joined in on the fun. People came up with all sorts of creative solutions to free Alex from his adhesive prison - from suggesting we cut the chair in half to bringing out a hairdryer to melt the glue.

While we appreciated their efforts, none of them proved successful. Eventually, a fellow camper, who also happened to be a professional furniture restorer, came to Alex's rescue. With a combination of patience, a solvent, and some expert maneuvering, he managed to free Alex from the chair.

As Alex stood up, still covered in remnants of glue, his face transformed from frustration to relief. We all erupted into applause, grateful that the ordeal was finally over. But amidst the applause, I couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt for putting my friend through such an ordeal.

After that adventure, we made a pact never to glue or prank each other in such extreme ways again. While the experience brought us closer and created a lasting bond between us all, we learned an important lesson about the limits of pranks and the importance of considering the consequences.

Years have passed since that camping trip, but the story of "the glue incident" remains etched in our memories. We still gather around campfires, retelling the tale with tears of laughter streaming down our faces. It is a story that exemplifies the power of friendship, humor, and the ability to find joy even in the most unexpected situations.

So, if you ever find yourself considering a mischievous prank on your friends, remember the cautionary tale of never glueing your friends to chairs. And if you do decide to go ahead, make sure you have a professional furniture restorer camping nearby, just in case.

The first book in a hilarious chapter book series about an accidental rule breaker from Katherine Applegate, Newbery Medal–winning and bestselling author of The One and Only Ivan, Endling, and Wishtree.

When his classmates can’t sit still for a big performance at school, Roscoe Riley takes matters into his own hands with a liberal dose of Super-Mega-Gonzo Glue—which his mom calls the don’t-you-dare glue because Roscoe isn’t supposed to use it.

Roscoe doesn’t mean to break the rules—he just can’t help himself! After all, his teacher’s job might be at stake and desperate times call for desperate measures.

Roscoe and his comical misadventures will appeal to fans of Megan McDonald’s Stink series; Nancy Krulik’s George Brown, Class Clown series; Rebecca Elliott’s Owl Diaries series; and Dan Gutman’s My Weirder School series.
