The Lost City of Atlantis - Fact or Fiction?
Since its first mention by the ancient Greek philosopher Plato, the lost city of Atlantis has been a topic of fascination and debate. Was it just a myth, or did this advanced civilization truly exist? Recent archaeological discoveries and compelling theories shed new light on the possible location and existence of this renowned city.
Scientists have explored various underwater sites around the world, including the Caribbean and Mediterranean seas, in search of Atlantis. While concrete evidence is yet to be found, many believe that the legendary city was a metaphorical representation of a real place that experienced catastrophic events, ultimately leading to its demise.

Experts suggest that the civilization Plato mentioned could have been based on the Minoan civilization, a Bronze Age society that thrived on the island of Crete. The Minoans were known for their advanced technology, vibrant culture, and sophisticated architecture, lending credence to the similarities with Plato's account of Atlantis.
The Enigma of Stonehenge - Unraveling Its Purpose
One of the world's most famous prehistoric monuments, Stonehenge, continues to perplex and captivate historians, archaeologists, and visitors alike. This extraordinary structure, consisting of massive stone blocks arranged in a circular formation, raises questions about its origins and purpose in the Neolithic era.
While the exact purpose remains unknown, numerous theories have been proposed. Some experts speculate that Stonehenge was a religious site, potentially used for ceremonies and rituals. Others believe it served as an astronomical observatory, aligning its structures with celestial events such as solstices and equinoxes.
Interestingly, recent excavations have revealed that Stonehenge was once part of a much larger complex. The discovery of nearby burial grounds and other stone structures in the surrounding areas has added complexity to the puzzle. Despite decades of research, Stonehenge continues to unravel its enigmatic past, leaving us intrigued and fascinated.
The Mystery of the Incas - Machu Picchu
In the heart of the Andes Mountains in Peru lies one of the world's most breathtaking archaeological wonders - Machu Picchu. Built by the ancient Inca civilization, this awe-inspiring site remained hidden from the outside world for centuries until its rediscovery in 1911.
Machu Picchu stands as a testament to the incredible engineering skills and forward-thinking architectural designs of the Inca civilization. The city was skillfully constructed using precise stone masonry, creating structures that have withstood the test of time, including the famous Intihuatana stone - a solar clock of sorts.
Despite the extensive research conducted on Machu Picchu, various mysteries still surround it. The purpose of the site, its isolation, and the sudden abandonment by the Incas are open to interpretation. Some believe it was a sacred religious center, while others suggest it served as a retreat for the elite.
The Legendary Library of Alexandria - A Tragic Loss
The Library of Alexandria, located in the ancient city of Alexandria, Egypt, was renowned as the intellectual and cultural hub of the ancient world. Established during the Ptolemaic dynasty, this legendary library housed countless scrolls, manuscripts, and works of literature from across the ancient world.
Unfortunately, the library's fate is equally legendary. It is believed that the Library of Alexandria was destroyed during a series of fires and invasions, resulting in the loss of an incomparable wealth of knowledge. It remains a significant historical tragedy, leaving us to wonder about the countless untold stories and lost wisdom contained within its walls.
While several attempts have been made to recreate the library's spirit and gather remnants of the lost works, the scale and magnitude of the original establishment remain unrivaled, making it an eternal symbol of human knowledge and the potential for its loss.

I drove all manner of trucks from 1953 until 2010, that’s when I finally retired at the grand old age of seventy four, trucks in the 1950s was so very different compared with today’s, no air brakes then, no cab heating, no bunks to sleep on, no flashing indicators, very poor headlights and windscreen wipers that worked on a vacuum which meant that when you accelerated the wipers stopped moving, when you took your foot off the accelerator the went like the clappers, I expect now you may be expecting me to say something like “The good old days”, well I’m not, because from a drivers point of view it was a tough old life back then, today’s drivers have it much better and deservedly so.
I started my driving career when I was seventeen back in 1953, over the fifty seven years of trucking I have seen things, heard things, took part in things, I’ve driven all over the UK including Northern Ireland and Eire, I have also trucked in France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Greece, Turkey, Andorra, Spain, Portugal, Malta and the channel Islands, seen it all but still miss trucking even now.
When a person gets old all you’ve got is your memories, and I have lots of them, so I got to thinking of all the stories I could tell, then I thought why not put them down in a book, it would give me an incentive and maybe some trucker somewhere when he’s week-ended in some God forsaken place may read the stories and enjoy them, and dreaming on further, if people like them maybe I’ll write some more,The book contains untold stories of trucks and transport from the 50s to 2012, they are the authors own stories and experiences!
