Hello, Colombia! My Short Trip To Bogotá And Medellín (2015) is Book 4 of K. I. Peeler’s World Travel Series.
K. I. Peeler attended a Spanish school in Bogotá in the summer of 2012 and 2013 to brush up on her Spanish. Her long-term desire and goal in her life is to be able to lecture in the language. The school has a unique program that includes an option of staying with a Colombian family for total immersion in Spanish and culture 24-7. She stayed with Luisa, a middle-age Colombian woman who works in a dentist’s office and takes in foreign students as her house guests.
Colombian culture fascinated Peeler, and she and Paul, her partner, went to Bogotá and Medellín in the summer of 2015. They stayed with Luisa in Bogotá with two housemates from India and in a nice hotel in a posh neighborhood in Medellín. This Kindle book is about their trip, which afforded them ample opportunities for learning.
Peeler provides much information in regards to traveling in Colombia, and she also attempts to try a pedagogical experiment with this book. She truly believes that language acquisition is best when it is done in situ. Many Spanish words, idioms, and conversations are peppered throughout the book with English translation. Readers will be able to master travel Spanish as they enjoy reading Peeler’s book.
