In this gentle, heartwarming story, Cocoa, a former stray dog, and her special Aki live happily together. One morning Aki disappears. Cocoa tries hard to find her, but she is nowhere to be found. Takamine conveys a close, affectionate familial bond between dog and owner.
The model of Cocoa was her dog, a miniature dachshund named Pero. She lived happily for 15 years, and died in July 2017.

Takamine uses her dog as her profile picture, and says:
“Pero was my best friend, child, and precious family. She tried hard to find me when I was in the hospital. I can’t thank her enough for what she did for me all her life.”

●About Suzu Takamine
Suzu Takamine was born in Japan.
She is the author-illustrator-translator of "Aki And Cocoa" and "Momo & Muffin Together".
She graduated from University College of London with a degree in psychology, and also acquired her TEFL certification at UCL.
When she was 17, she volunteered at Mother Teresa's Home For The Dying in Kolkata in India, looking after the nearly dying.
In the following year, she also did volunteer work at Church Town Farm in Cornwall in the UK, and assisted persons with disabilities in enjoying outdoor activities.
She has had depression since she had graduated from the university.

She hopes to make use of these experiences, and create gentle and heartwarming books.
In addition, she uses her dog as her profile picture. The dog had supported her for 15 years, and became the model for "Aki & Cocoa" "Momo & Muffin series".

２０１７年７月、天国へ戻ったミニチュアダックスの愛犬（ペロ）がモデル。 ペロは１５年間生きてくれ、私が入院している時には、必死になって探してくれました。 この作品には、その時の気持ちも込められています。

●著者プロフィール
ロンドン大学（University College of London）心理学部卒業。
また、在学中に英語を母語としない英語教員向けの英語教育指導者資格認定（Teaching English as a Foreign Language：TEFL）も取得する。
その後、うつ病を発症。英会話講師を経て、現在は絵本作家として活動。
ボランティア経験
１7歳の時、インドのマザーテレサ創設【死を待つ人の家】でボランティア活動に従事。
翌年、英国【チャーチタウンファーム：福祉施設】でも、ボランティアを行う。

絵本を通して、今までの経験や病気になって得たものを表現し、優しさや温かさを伝えたいと願う。プロフィール写真は、発病してから傍で見守ってくれた愛犬である。
